GP2: Giacomo Ricci: from driver to team manager‏

Giacomo Ricci has a rich story to tell with regards to his story in the car racing world. From 2001 when he took his first steps on the track, Ricci has competed in about 200 races, for the most part in one-seaters, notching up a win in the GP2 Series.

Then last year by chance he found himself behind the pit wall without a helmet. Trident saw in his enthusiasm and expertise the right combination to manage the GP2 and GP3 team.

A brief meeting with Trident’s team owner Maurizio Salvadori, and Ricci found himself on the track as team manager for both teams. “I believe that Maurizio decided to take a risk when he called me" commented Ricci "He knows me very well as a driver, he knew how much passion I have for this environment, but I had to demonstrate in the field I was capable of covering this role really well."

Talk to us about Johnny Cecotto Jr.’s excellent 2014 season so far “For us in the team, it was a pleasing surprise only in part as we were very familiar with Johnny’s talent. When we knew that he would return to Trident in 2014 all members of the team pledged maximum possible support to him, we knew that in the right context Johnny could deliver.
