IWC renews deal with title-chasing Mercedes

The Mercedes Formula One team, which is six races away from completing a Formula One world championship double, has renewed its sponsorship deal with watch brand IWC Schaffhausen.

The new deal is for three years, tying the team and company together until the end of 2018. The deal was announced in Singapore ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix, where Mercedes' duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton will resume their battle for the world title.

IWC has been a partner of Mercedes-Benz's performance brand, AMG, since 2004, moving into Formula One when Mercedes bought the Brawn GP team in 2010. Last year, the Swiss brand upgraded its deal to become an official engineering partner of the team.

"We and the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team's engineers and designers are linked by a common passion for outstanding engineering, skilled craftsmanship and innovation," said Georges Kern, IWC Schaffhausen's chief executive.

"With the team's drivers, we share a desire to deliver ultimate precision and unmatched performance."
