Entries open for Renault MSA Young Journalist and Photographer Awards

The Motor Sports Association (MSA) is inviting submissions for the 2014 Renault MSA Young Motor Sport Journalist and Photographer of the Year awards, which are now open to those aged 30 and under.

Established in 2002 with support from Renault UK Limited, the awards are designed to recognise and encourage the new generation of motor sport reporters and photographers working within UK motor sport.

A panel of recognised experts from the sport and the media will consider the applications. Each winner will receive a trophy and a cheque for £1,000 at the MSA’s Night of Champions ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club in January.

In addition the winning photographer’s images will be framed and hung at both the Royal Automobile Club and Motor Sports House, and will appear in MSA magazine. The two winners will also receive a year’s provisional membership of the Guild of Motoring Writers, the world’s largest organisation of automotive editorial professionals.

Jeremy Townsend, Renault UK Communications Director, said: “Renault UK is delighted to continue its support of new and developing talent within the UK motor sport media. Journalists and photographers are the sport’s messengers and we are always proud to give the new generation an early career boost. Indeed, we have been pleased to see previous winner’s careers flourish in the wake of their successes, and we look forward to finding out who will emerge as the latest top prospects.”

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, added: “The MSA has a wide-ranging commitment to the development of UK motor sport, and that extends to recognising the outstanding young members of the motor sport media whose work showcases all that is great about our sport. We are delighted to have Renault UK’s continued backing and I look forward to considering the entries together.”

Candidates must have been aged 30 or under on 1 January 2014 and be able to demonstrate published work involving domestic UK motor sport. They can work in local, regional, specialist or electronic media and are required to submit a minimum of three published articles or five photographs from the UK media in 2014.

Application forms are available by email from media@msauk.org and entries must be sent to the MSA by 21 November 2014.
