Round 6: McKelvey Bushwhacker Rally, 27 September

Martin Cairns and co-driver Gary McElhinney won round six, the McKelvey Bushwhacker Rally.

Cairns took the lead from stage one and held it for two more, when Josh Moffett moved ahead. However Cairns moved back into the lead after a scorching time on the fifth stage, Carrickaholton. This time he maintained his advantage, taking a 17-second victory over Moffett.

Desi Henry completed the podium in third place, having grabbed the position on stage two. In the drive of the event, Frank Kelly pedalled his two-wheel-drive MK2 Escort to fourth place after eight stages but cruelly retired on the penultimate stage when the half-shaft broke in the back axle.
