Seb Morris To Make GP3 Test Debut With Status In Abu Dhabi‏

Aspiring FIA Formula One World Championship racer Seb Morris will take the next step on his fast moving career path next month after confirming he will make his GP3 Series test debut with leading squad Status Grand Prix.Joining the Silverstone-based team for the official end-of-season test outing at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, the 18-year-old Caterham Racing Academy driver from Marford will be in action during all three days of the test – beginning on Thursday, 27th November.Seb, of course, raced to a very impressive third overall in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC) this year, his maiden season at European level, and along the way claimed two superb race victories at Silverstone in the UK and Assen in The Netherlands. Now, his sights are set on a swift graduation up the single-seater ladder and the GP3 Series test with Status could well pave the way for a move into the F1 support category in 2015 for the Jack Wills ‘Young Briton’, TAG Heuer ambassador, Oxford Vaughan ambassador and Elite Cymru-backed racer.“Now that my 2014 race season is over, our focus has immediately turned to the on and off track preparations for 2015 and we are delighted to be going to Abu Dhabi with Status”, said the teenage Welshman looking ahead to the next chapter of his career.“The challenge of learning to drive the more complex and powerful GP3 car is one I am relishing and I aim to make a good impression. We aim to leave no stone unturned in maximising this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started.”Marking a significant increase in power over the 2.0-litre Formula Renault car he raced to third overall in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC this season, the GP3 Series Dallara chassis boasts an impressive output of 400bhp from its 3.4-litre engine. The car also runs on Pirelli P Zero tyres, as opposed to the Michelin rubber which Seb has competed on in 2014.Teddy Yip Jr, team principal of Status GP, said: “We welcome Seb on board for the test and greatly look forward to working with him. Status has been keeping a close eye on his progress this year and, alongside his wins, his three pole positions have clearly demonstrated real speed.“Over the three test days he will have chance to learn GP3’s Pirelli P Zero tyre, the car and the track, and then really go about setting some impressive times.”In order to prepare as well as possible for this fantastic opportunity, Seb will undergo intensive preparations, including heat acclimatisation, fitness training and simulator sessions at the Status GP headquarters in Northamptonshire.
