Kostka cruises to Euro8Series Hockenheim pole

CZECH AUDI RACER TOPS SINI (CHEVEROLET) WHILE BALDAN (MERCEDES) SETTLES FOR SIXTH

Prevailing at the end of a qualifying hampered by two red flags, the Audi RS5 of Tomas Kostka cruised to the Czech driver's fourth pole of the season as he logged a personal best laptime of 1'47"134. The 30-year-old racer, fielded by Audi Sport Italia and who lined-up in Germany as the championship leader, made another step towards his championship hopes. Starting in second will be one of his rivals, Solaris Motorsport driver Francesco Sini (Chevrolet Camaro), who is now 14 points back in standings.

While Sini will be called to a tough job, Nicola Baldan is just three points away from the lead although he experienced a rough ride so far. The Venetian had issues in the first practice session, completing only two laps and was then forced to miss the second one. In qualifying, he reported gearbox woes and will start in 6th behind Audi's Emanuele Zonzini, Sini's team Mate Giovanni Berton, driving a Chevrolet Lumina, and Max Mugelli. Unfortunately, the latter also hit the barriers with five minutes to go forcing the Team BMW Dinamic mechanics to what will be a long night shift.

The first red flag was exposed to recover the Audi of Ermanno Dionisio, who was stopped by fuel pump problems. The EUROV8SERIES will be lining-up for a single race tomorrow at 13:15 (a live video streaming service will be available on www.eurov8series.com), while a warm-up session will go underway at 9:30 AM.
