Dream weekend for Ibran, Fontes in Jerez

Javier Ibrán and Álvaro Fontes completed a successful weekend at the penultimate round of the Spanish Endurance Championship at the Circuito de Jerez, riving the Buggy Experience Racing Team Ginetta G55 GT4 they dominated in Clase 1 and D1.

The two Spaniards finished on top on their first outing during the free practice sessions, clocking a lap time of 1:55.765. The positive trend in qualifying, when Fontes earned D1 pole position (1:56.696) for Race one in front of his home crowd.

Shortly after Ibrán qualified second for Race two as he set a lap of 1:58.682. On Sunday, the Ginetta G55 entered by Buggy Experience was running 6th in the first half before pitting. Then, the British car moved into third and with only three laps to go they took the lead to win three seconds ahead of their rivals.

Race two was similarly good for Ibrán and Fontes, as they overtook several cars on the opening lap to remain in the third spot when pit stops occurred. Finally both Buggy Experience Racing Team drivers finished second behind their teammates Toni Castillo and Joaquín Capsi, driving another Ginetta G55 GT4.

“It was such a nice weekend at home for me, and I am so proud of people cheering for us over the weekend. I am really happy about our results and performance”, Fontes underlined. His teammate Ibrán emphasized that “our weekend was incredible. We felt quite comfortable racing at this track where to claim an overall win was quite difficult a priori, particularly in the view of the fact that our qualifying results were not the best possible ones. It was a race meeting where, in a word, the Ginettas G55 GT4 fielded by Buggy Experience Racing Team won by a wide margin. The success was shared by the whole team”.

The championship comes to an end on 8-9 November at the Circuito del Jarama (Madrid).
