Max Defourny shows his potential in Renault rookie tests‏

As is tradition at the end of the season promising young motorsport hopefuls participate in the " Rookie Test" day organized by Renault Sport the day after the final of the World Series. Just 16 years old, Max Defourny was among the best many times on the Jerez circuit in southern Spain. Particularly convincing when he drove the Formula Renault 2.0, the Belgian driver already has solid ambitions for 2015.

A talented driver from the beginning of his career, Max Defourny hasn't wasted time in his ascent, and has been prominent in each of the categories he has raced in, for several seasons in karting and in cars since 2014. Naturally Formula Renault 2.0 is what he wants to drive, after a brilliant first experience in single-seaters in the French F4 Championship and in Formula Renault 1.6 (Northern European Cup). "The Formula Renault 2.0 has provided training for virtually every major current Formula 1 driver and my next goal is to prove myself as well," says Max.

Confident with ART in FR 2.0Max made the trip to Jerez to participate in the rookie test. Many other drivers were there, along with most teams running in Formula Renault 2.0. With the ART Junior Team Max Defourny learned about the new situation. Immediately, he unveiled his talent by proving one of the fastest in the morning, finding himself in the top 6 of more than 31 runners and most importantly with the fastest lap of the drivers with no experience of the FR 2.0. "The rapport with the team was very good and I quickly felt comfortable in the car. The car has plenty of grip, a level well above what I was used to and powerful braking performance. I had a lot of fun."

Max improves his time furtherAs fast with new tyres as with worn tyres, Max was also very consistent, with little difference between his fastest laps. In the afternoon, the Belgian driver was still impressing people with the fastest time of the rookies, before the transition to new tyres. "When the team sent me back on track for a final session, it was unfortunately been interrupted by a red flag. Too bad, because I too had new tyres and the car was very effective in these conditions. I really felt able to post one of the accumulated fastest times of the day," he regretted. In any case, Max Defourny showed strong potential on this successful day, despite his tender age. He is promising!
