The Italian team is third in GT Open after Barcelona's showdown.
A drive-thorugh penalty at the start of race-2 slows Montermini and Schirò and their very effective Ferrari 458 after race-1 stunning victory
Scuderia Villorba Corse was absolute star of International GT Open season and the 2014 final round in Barcelona on November 1-2 with Andrea Montermini and Niccolò Schirò in their Ferrari 458.
After the thrilling win clinched in Saturday's race-1, Italian team led by Raimondo Amadio had a troubled race-2, where either pole position nor the fastest lap of the race (1'50"109) or a very effective car were enough. In the end Montermini / Schirò came in third position in the overall standings of the championship. In race-2 Villorba Corse lost its title hopes because of a drive-through penalty when, started from pole position, Schirò cut the very first turn during a tough duel and a contact with the Ferrari of Perez Aicart.
“It was a bad day, we can not deny it - says Amadio, Team Principal -. However, we have fought at the top throughout the season. Still the whole team deserves a 'well done' for all the very good job done in many different championship. We have always raced at the highest levels. Tomorrow we will start working on 2015.”
