MGR Motorsport has confirmed that 17-year-old single-seater frontrunner Alex Gill will compete with the team in the BRDC F4 Winter Championship.

Gill finished fourth overall in Formula Renault BARC in 2014 with seven podiums from 15 races, including a win at Rockingham, while also securing five pole positions.

He made his car racing debut at the end of 2013, and raced with MGR in the Formula Renault BARC Autumn Cup, securing two podiums from three races.

Prior to graduating to cars, Gill enjoyed a fruitful karting career, culminating in title glory in the MSA British KF3 series in 2012.

MGR Team Manager Steve Lynch commented: “We’re very pleased to welcome Alex back to the team, and are looking forward to seeing how he gets on in a new car. He’s shown a lot of promise so far in his short career and we hope to see him up on the podium and challenging for wins at Snetterton and Brands Hatch.”

Gill commented: “I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the car for the first time. It has a lot of features which are new to me, such as the paddle-shift gearbox, but I’m sure I’ll be quickly up to speed and challenging at the front.”

The BRDC F4 Winter Championship commences at Snetterton on 8-9 November, and finishes on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit on 22-23 November.
