Focus on World Endurance Championship and FR3.5 for rest of 2015
Strakka Racing will regretfully withdraw from FR2.0 Eurocup to focus its efforts on the World Endurance Championship and FR3.5 for the remainder of 2015. The Silverstone-based team will retain the team’s three chassis with a view to return to the championship at some stage.
“It’s a culmination of a number of factors that has led to this difficult decision,” explains technical director Jay Davenport. “Our other programmes are taking more time than we hoped at this stage, stretching our internal resource and it is not right to compromise the FR2.0 programme. It has always been Strakka’s approach to resource our teams properly, often with full-time engineers and technicians and at present we can’t do that for the FR2.0 team. With development of the DOME S103 needing all our attention, together with a serious FR3.5 championship campaign on World Series weekend, we cannot do justice to the young drivers in FR2.0. We apologise to the drivers and championship organisers but will only return when we can do it the way we want to.”
