First date announced for 2016 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS, Pau round confirmed

The Pau street circuit will be hosting one of the 2016 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS venues. The event will be held on the 21/22 May weekend, one week before the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 debut on the Montecarlo streets, on the same weekend of the F1 Gran Prix.

The 2016 Eurocup Series provisional calendar has been recently announced. The European series, along with Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS and NEC, will still be part for the upcoming season of the Renault Sport Technologies programs.

A prestigious and important calendar the Eurocup one, that will develop side by side with the Renault Sport Trophy, but for the Monaco round where the new R.S.01 cars will be involved in Imola. Four rounds will be held during the European Le Mans Series weekends: Red Bull Ring (Austria), Paul Ricard (France), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Estoril (Portugal). The two further rounds will be the opening one in Motorland Aragón, in Spain and, as said, Montecarlo.

All rounds will not have clashes with the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS and NEC ones. This as usual to allow drivers to race in two series and thus grant twice the points required for the FIA super license.

The Pau round of the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS, now a milestone in the Fast Lane Promotion Series (the next one will mark the 5th edition), will be even more important for those drivers joining the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, as it will provide a chance to get at ease with the characteristics of a street circuit one week before the Monaco venue.

The full calendar of the ALPS Series will be shortly announced.
