Gibson Teams Claim 1,2,3 on LMP2 Podium

British built cars and engines dominate penultimate round of European Le Mans Series

Gibson-Nissan 015S sportscars were triumphant in the LMP2 class in the Four Hours of Le Castellet this weekend, with victory for Greaves Motorsport and third for Jota Sport.

To add to Gibson’s success, second and fourth places in LMP2 were taken by AF Racing, powered by Gibson-Nissan engines.

Following their victory at Red Bull Ring in July, Harry Tincknell put the Jota Sport team on pole for the 4 hour race on Sunday. An exciting race ensued, with the trio of Simon Dolan, Filipe Albuquerque and Harry Tincknell working the Gibson 015S hard against the other LMP2 contenders, including the Greaves Motorsport crew of Jon Lancaster, Bjorn Wirdheim and Gary Hirsch. The chequered flag saw Jota take victory over Greaves by 25 seconds, but in a twist of events Jota received a post race penalty for exceeding driver time, which gave Greaves the victory and Jota dropped down to third.

Next month sees the final round of the European Le Mans Series at Estoril, with just one point now separating Jota Sport at the top of the championship table from Greaves Motorsport.

‘It has been a great weekend for Gibson teams in the ELMS, despite the unfortunate post race penalty for Jota.’ Said James Hibbert, Gibson’s Sportscar Manager. ‘Congratulations to all our teams and we look forward to an exciting climax to the season in Estoril.’
