Sam Watkins will make it two teenagers making their Renault UK Clio Cup debut at Silverstone later this month (Sat 26/Sun 27 Sept) after signing to race in the championship’s final two rounds with the 20Ten Racing team.

 Watkins, aged 17, graduates to the Clio Cup – the premier ‘feeder’ category to the star-studded British Touring Car Championship – after racing in Ford Fiesta Juniors.

 Already announced as making his debut at Silverstone is 16-year-old Alex Sedgwick (Leamington Spa) with the Team Cooksport outfit…

Watkins commented: “The Clio Cup very much marks another level up for me in my racing career. I’m treating Silverstone and Brands Hatch (10/11 Oct) as opportunities to learn about the car and the championship ahead of some winter testing and then a full season in 2016.

“If I’m able to put in reasonable lap times compared to the others on the grid then I’ll come away content as this will give me a good starting point for my preparations ahead of next year.”
