America's GT Cup Announces The Maranello Cup during Atlanta Fall Historics Weekend

New Racing Series Showcases Previously Eligible Ferrari Challenge Race Cars

The Maranello Cup to Race with The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Porsche Series in an Alignment of Iconic BrandsAmerica's GT Cup officials announced Saturday a new racing series, The Maranello Cup, which will showcase previously eligible Ferrari Challenge race cars at established historic and vintage events throughout the United States.

The Maranello Cup announcement was made during a VIP reception Saturday night that was part of this weekend's Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Atlanta Fall Historics at Road Atlanta.

America's GT Cup manages The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA. Both of these Porsche-based racing series have seen solid growth in participation and popularity the last few years under the leadership of America's GT Cup.

The Maranello Cup will race with The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 on race weekends at such legendary tracks as Sebring International Raceway, Road Atlanta, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Road America and many more.

The addition of The Maranello Cup to the America's GT Cup family of racing series also aligns what many regard as the two most iconic automobile brands in the world: Porsche and Ferrari.

The Maranello Cup will debut at this year's season-ending HSR Sebring Historics, December 3 - 6, in preparation for a full year of competition in 2016. The Maranello Cup's inaugural season will be a full points-based series that will crown a champion at year's end.

The Maranello Cup announcement was made last night during the VIP reception hosted by Jerry Peters and his wife, Lara Peters, at their well-known and nearby race shop the Lucky Dog Garage, which is across the street from Road Atlanta.

Like The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3, The Maranello Cup will be based on close and fair racing on the track and great competitor camaraderie after the checkered flag falls.

"The growth and popularity we have seen in The Stuttgart Cup and the Mission Foods GT3 Cup has been based on the support of our corporate partners and what we have been able to establish as the right mix of competition and sportsmanship on and off the track, all presented on a professional platform of service, marketing and hospitality," said Ken Fengler, Competition Director and General Manager of America's GT Cup and its racing series. All of these positive traits will be at the foundation of The Maranello Cup."

The America's GT Cup family of racing series is supported by official partners Pirelli Tire North America, BRM Chronographes, Pacifico Costa Rica, Mission Foods, VP Racing Fuels, Palm Beach Driving Club and Bob Woodman Tires.

"Our decision to launch The Maranello Cup was in part a response to consistent inquiries from various individuals and organizations within the sports car racing sector inquiring about racing programs similar to The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 format," Fengler said. "A great deal of support already exists for the Maranello Cup."

The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 attracted one of the largest fields of the season for this weekend's Atlanta Fall Historics. The strong entry was in response to a race weekend schedule that featured the pair of Porsche racing series in their own and exclusive run group. The Maranello Cup will race with The Stuttgart Cup and Mission Foods GT3 Cup in this exclusive run-group format that will be the series-standard for all 2016 events.
