Maxime Martin taked convincing second DTM win

Maxime Martin (BMW) gave an impressive performance at race one of the DTM weekend on Saturday on the Nürburgring and celebrated his second win of the season in the most popular international touring car series after 48:17.036 minutes.

At the penultimate weekend on the DTM calendar at the Nürburgring, rookie Lucas Auer clinched pole position for the first time at race one. However shortly after the start, the Mercedes-Benz pilot lost his lead to Maxime Martin (BMW), who took up the race from second on the grid, followed by Martin’s BMW colleague Bruno Spengler. After a collision between the Audi drivers Jamie Green and Miguel Molina the race was interrupted for a short time and restarted in the fifth lap behind the safety car.

Pascal Wehrlein took another step closer to taking home his maiden DTM title. Clinching third, the Mercedes-Benz pilot increased his lead in the drivers’ classification by 27 points over second-ranking Edoardo Mortara (Audi). Only three races are left on the calendar. All drivers profited from the high grip level of the Hankook race tyres, which performed impressively over the entire 25-lap race distance.
