Sieders striving for fifth Bathurst podium

to boost Championship chase.

Dave "Sideways" Sieders will be working to repeat last year's team result and put a Holden on top of the podium at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 event of the East Coast Bullbars Australian V8 Ute Racing Series this weekend, 8th-11th October 2015.

The 31 year old from Western Sydney will be looking to make up for 2014, when he was on target to secure a double podium at Mout Panorama for Sieders Racing, but was not classified as a finisher in the final race after heavy contacted caused a deflated tyre, dropping him to eighth for the weekend.

"Last year looked really good, but just ended with a disappointing result," said Sieders, "I got turned around in race one, and managed to race back through the field, and was on target to finish second behind Rhys [McNally], but it wasn't to be; I managed to limp around, but the final lap was deemed to be outside the allowable limit to classify".

"We believe that we have the right package to be at the front, and with Rhys back with us, it would be an amazing result for the Team to have more than one of us up there on the podium on Sunday," said Sieders, "three would be a dream, and the way that Jeremy [Gray] has been threatening for a podium spot this season, you just never know."

Sieders was forced to salvage points in the last round of the Series, after fluid on the track at the end of Sandown's back straight in race one forced him to race his way back through the field. Whilst he still sits third in the Championship, the gap to Series Leader, Ryal Harris, opened up to 74 points.

"We made big gains with our round win at Townsville, and we've been lucky to stay in third after Sandown," said Sieders, "we will need to bank as many points as possible, ideally top the points and win the round, but we probably also need Ryal [Harris] and Adam [Marjoram] to have a 'less than good' weekend to really help".

Holding the distinction of being the V8 Ute Series' all-time leading pole sitter, Sieders is aiming for a hatrick of top qualifying results at Bathurst, which would see him finally break through for his first pole position in his Mango Credit Commodore.

"We had good pace in last year, with a Ford-Holden lock-out the front row of the grid, so a repeat of that would be great," said Sieders, "it would awesome to finally tick that box of a Holden pole, especially at Bathurst."

The V8 Ute Series hits the track on Thursday, 8th October, for two practice sessions (8:45am and 2:40pm), with early morning Qualifying on Friday (8:30am), before two races on Saturday (7:45am and 4:30pm) and the final race at 8:20am on Sunday morning before the Bathurst 1000.

All sessions will be live on FoxSports 5, with live coverage also on Network 10 over the weekend.

"We did some testing recently, and combined with our set-up and results from last year, we do have some confidence going into the weekend, but one thing we're definitely aware of is that this is Bathurst, and anything can happen."
