Armstrong secures Scottish Rally Championship

Pirelli driver Jock Armstrong has won the MSA Scottish Rally Championship after the final round of the series didn’t run.

The Colin McRae Forest Stages was cancelled due to a lack of entries. Subaru Impreza crew Jock Armstrong and co-driver Paula Swinscoe were favourites for the title ahead of the rally as they had a convincing points lead.

“This feels like it’s been a long time coming,” said Armstrong. “But I’m delighted to finally get my hands on the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship trophy. I’ve been chasing this championship since 2009, and had a few near misses. It’s always seemed to conspire against me but this year seemed different right from the start, the Snowman Rally win set us up for the season, and despite following that with a retirement I always felt that we were in a strong position.

“The Scottish Championship is a great place to go rallying, with good competition, good events and friendly officials, and although the older you get the faster you were, we are looking forward to coming back in 2016 to defend the title. It’s everything you could look for in a championship.”
