The most popular applicant by the deadline of October 14th (today) 12.00 mid day CET will wear the Golden Bib at the Selection event in Guadix - October 15,16,17.
Profile: My name is Thomas Strudwick and I have been selected to take part in this year’s Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup selection event at the Guadix Circuit in Spain. I will be 13 years old on the 17th of October and very much hope to take part in next year’s Red Bull Rookies Cup.
For the Selection Event I have been working hard on my fitness and my school work as I will be missing a whole week of learning and I know that my school work is just as important as my racing. I think the Selection Event will be an amazing experience for me not only meeting new people from around the world but also doing the sport I love most in Spain.
I will be leaving my home country of England by flight from London to Malaga on the 14th of October at 5.15am which will most definitely be tiring, and we hope to arrive at Guadix just after lunch.
For the Selection Event I have stepped up my training to make sure my fitness is at the best it can be. At school I also have the luxury of being able to play football and other sports during breaks and lunches which I take advantage of during the school day.
My school is very supportive of my racing and have given me many awards for achievements not just in sport but also academically too. I am also part of an Elite Sports program which runs team building and fitness activities during the year run by the school and sport experts.
For the build up to the event I have appeared on BT Sports live show “MotoGP Tonight” talking about what I have been doing this year. My results in 2014 have been excellent and I am currently leading the British Metrakit GP70 Series. I have also set new lap records on UK tracks matching the lap times of current MotoGP stars such as Scott Redding and Danny Kent.
