RYE House promoter Len Silver has announced his departure from Hoddesdon. However, Silver will remain very much at the forefront of operations at Kent, who have confirmed they will remain a National League-only club next season.Silver said: “In leaving Rye House, I wish the new owners and promoters led by Warren Scott, every success in the future.“I will, of course, continue my very enjoyable association with Kent and intend to enlarge my activities there with particular attention to training facilities at Iwade, our next door neighbouring track, where I hope to install an air fence before next season starts. “The excellent junior track will come into play with the plans put forward by Chris Louis at this year's AGM with regard to young rider training.“I would like, in particular, to thank John Sampford for his outstanding work with me at Rye House over the last 16 years, most of which goes un-noticed by the general public, and to those others who have contributed to my happy times in East Hertford - they are too numerous to mention.“Do not take this statement to indicate that I am in any way going into so-called ‘retirement.’ I will still work seven days a week for Speedway just as I always have.”

CRADLEY coach Graham Jones says he hopes the two National League KO Cup Final clashes with Eastbourne this week aren’t his last with the club.Jones has praised the Heathens as a whole and hopes he can continue in his mentor position if the club is saved over the winter with current promotion of Chris Van Straaten, Gary Patchett and Nigel Pearson set to stand down.Said Jones: “My role is so rewarding and it doesn’t half make you feel good when you compare where some of the boys were to where they are now.“It was a blow losing Monmore as a home track but for me Perry Barr is awesome. It was always going to be different but we’ve seen how much the majority of the team have come on over the season.“The promotion should all be applauded for what they’ve done over the last six years, they’ve brought plenty of success back to the name of Cradley Speedway and they’ve been an absolute pleasure to work with – I just really hope I’m back with the club in 2016 continuing my role because I love it.”Early team news for the KO Cup Final, which begins with the Cradley leg at Perry Barr on Wednesday, sees Danny Ayres and Jack Smith drafted in for the Heathens, whilst the Eagles will be without Georgie Wood due to a knee injury and Daniel Spiller is unavailable, with Martin Knuckey coming in to guest.
