Waters and Suzuki win Australian MX Series finale

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki Racing’s Todd Waters wrapped-up the final round of the 2016 Australian Motul MX Nationals at Coolum with overall victory and also a podium position in the championship standings on his RM-Z450 Suzuki.

Waters and team-mate Luke Wilson saw their efforts rewarded at the 10th round of the series: Waters, who finished second in the GoPro Superpole with a 1:45.511 lap-time, raced to second in the first moto, while in race two, everything came together with him finding an extra gear to launch from third to victory.

The result rewarded Waters and the Suzuki-backed team with the top-step of the podium and third in the overall Thor MX1 Championship in what is the team’s first ever MX Nationals season.

For team-mate Wilson, the season finale saw the Queenslander achieve the goals he had set for himself prior to arriving at Coolum. Wilson, who qualified in 12th, finished moto one in 12th position, while in race two he delivered his best result of the season, crossing the line in an impressive eighth place; and eighth overall for the round. With consistent top-10 finishes towards the end of the motocross season, Wilson finished the series in 12th position.
