CAME BPT Monster Yamaha British Supersport roundup

James Westmoreland and Joe Francis had another strong weekend at round nine of the Dickies British Supersport Championship with the CAME BPT Yamaha team at Oulton Park. James Westmoreland pushed hard to secure a fourth and third place respectively and leads the Championship now by three points. Joe Francis gained a seventh and sixth place and is ninth in the overall standings.James and Joe both had great practice sessions and this turned into a fantastic qualifying session as Westy secured pole position and Joe only 0.154 behind him in second place. The team were feeling confident about the race, Westy got boxed into turn one and ended up sixth after lap one. Joe got a really good start and was third.Joe was locked in a battle for half the race for a podium position with Brad Ray and Luke Jones but once again he was plagued with arm pump and he was struggling in the closing laps dropping back down to seventh at the end of the 12-lap race. Westy was locked in various battles throughout the race and despite a poor start and hitting a couple of false neutrals which dropped him back to eighth at one point, he got his head down and fought back to a strong fourth. This put him on equal points with Tarran Mackenzie to lead the Championship standings going into Sunday's race.Westy started from third on the grid for race two and Joe from sixth. Westy was fourth after lap one of the 15-lap race. He made a mistake on lap five running him across the grass dropping him back to sixth and knew he had to fight hard to regain his position but he set some very fast lap times trying to make up lost time. He was determined to push for a podium and on the final lap at the last turn he made his move on Tarran Mackenzie to secure the final podium slot.Joe got another good start and was sixth after lap one, he was locked in a battle with Andrew Irwin and the pair exchanged places on several occasions. He was able to relax and concentrate on bringing the CAME BPT Yamaha home and made a move on the final lap on Andrew Irwin to finish in sixth.James Westmoreland - "I am pleased to end the weekend with another podium but honestly we need to start doing more than what I've done this weekend in the final three rounds. My pace has been really good this weekend as it proved today after my mistake at Hizzy's chicane. I need to work on a few things for Donington and I'm pleased that it's only a couple of days away. The goal there is to do whatever it takes to win both races. A huge thank you to my team, CAME BPT Yamaha, for the weekend and I'm looking forward to riding again on Friday morning! Not long to wait!"Joe Francis - "It was my first race weekend at Oulton Park as I missed the round earlier in the year due to injury. Friday was very much a learning day and the track conditions were very mixed so it was hard to get a good amount of time on track. The bike felt really good, I wish I'd had a bit more time to set it up but I was really pleased with how everything went in qualifying and I was so close to getting pole position. I felt so strong on the bike in both races until the arm pump set in.We have made some improvements with it since Cadwell and I will be working hard on my fitness and getting it worked on before Donington. This time it was mainly around the scar tissue from where I had the plates and screws put in after Silverstone. It's really tough as I feel fast on the bike and know I can run with them, when it sets in, it's a huge hindrance and a struggle to even hold on.I want to thank all the CAME BPT Yamaha team for all their hard work and I'm pleased with the results I've got and the pace I know I can do. Roll on Donington!"Grant Bunting - Team Manager - "It was another good weekend for the team, the pace from both riders at the start of the sessions was fantastic. Qualifying was perfect and I couldn't have asked for more.Westy rode two very consistent races and he is once again leading the Championship as we head to Donington next week. We had a few small issues this weekend and he made a couple of mistakes also but hopefully we can get him settled down for the final three races of the year and finish on a high note.Joe rode well despite the problems with his arm. He was setting some good times through the practice and qualifying sessions and we were looking forward to the races. Sadly his arm-pump triggered problems and he was unable to get the results he's capable of achieving. I know he will be working hard to try and sort the issues for the last three rounds. It is a small turn around this week before heading to Donington on Thursday so we are looking forward to getting there now. Once again thank you to all our personal sponsors for their support this season."2016 SponsorsCAME - BPT - MONSTER - FLY BY NITE - RACEWAYS MOTORCYCLES - YMUK
