Pasma to contest F4 British with Carlin

Finnish driver Patrik Pasma will race in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford for reigning champions Carlin in 2017. Pasma has already tested with the team in 2016 and competed in multiple series during last year in preparation for the UK’s leading single-seater series – most notably in the BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 Championship. Pasma is the first driver to be announced as part of Carlin’s 2017 British F4 line-up.

16-year-old Pasma enjoyed a busy season over the course of 2016 taking on a number of races in the BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 Championship. Pasma’s season saw him finish in a strong seventh position overall in the Post 89 National Class of the Formula Ford 1600 National Championship and third overall in the Triple Crown event which comprised of races at legendary circuits Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.

Pasma has wasted no time in getting to grips with the British F4 car in pre-season testing and immediately impressed with his ability to learn the 1.6-litre Ford EcoBoost-powered racer so quickly. Carlin now look forward to the commencement of 2017 testing next month before the opening race of the season gets underway at Brands Hatch on 1/2 April, 2017.

Said Pasma: “I’m pleased to be racing this season for Carlin in British F4. It is obviously a good step for me to take and it is a competitive championship with great circuits and a strong field. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team. We have been testing together which has been going well so we now look to continue that momentum throughout pre-season testing and ahead of the first round at Brands Hatch.”

Added Carlin racing director Trevor Carlin: “We are pleased to welcome Patrik to Carlin for the upcoming season in the F4 British Championship. Patrik has already been testing with the team and has been working really well in both his approach to the season and also getting used to a new car. Patrik will no doubt make a great addition to Carlin and we look forward to the season getting underway with him on board in April.”
