Spanish GT for ASCARI KZ1 Supercar

Track version being prepared against the clock

Following its successful launch in January this year, a race version of the stunning Ascari KZ1 supercar is being prepared to join the grid line up at the 2005 Spanish GT at Jarama on 17 April.

Its creator, Klaas Zwart, aims to add a victory at the Spanish GT to his growing list of successful race challenges, which include a first at Euroboss 2003, and a second the following year.

Powered by a 580 bhp normally aspirated engine, which is encased in a stripped out super-light, super-strong carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and body shell, the original KZ1 design has been modified for enhanced aerodynamics and even greater stability at top speed.

Head of the Ascari race team, Braam Smith, says:  “The KZ1 has already proven its power and handling on the track.  Klaas really put the car through its paces at every stage of its development at RaceResortAscari in Southern Spain, before the car went into final production.   We are working hard to meet the deadline and are confident that the car will be ready in time to prove its supremacy at the Spanish GT.”
