Only Three Weeks Left for Bridgestone e-reporter Entries Trip to Japan for aspiring young journalists
In less than two weeks, the world’s elite racing drivers line up on the grid in Melbourne for the opening race of the 2005 FIA Formula One Word Championship and Bridgestone, official tyre partner to Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, Jordan Grand Prix and Minardi F1, is reminding students that they only have three weeks to enter Bridgestone e-reporter, giving aspiring motorsport journalists the opportunity to kick start their career in the media and win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Japan.
Entries have poured in from across Europe, with aspiring writers keen to prove they’ve got what it takes to be one of seven finalists selected to attend a European Grand Prix and report on the all-new GP2 Series for the Bridgestone Europe and GP2 websites. One overall winner will then be taken to Japan to cover a major international Bridgestone event and to help them with the job, they’ll also be presented with a brand new laptop computer.
The task of reviewing the entries, submitted online via .bridgestone-eu.com/e- reporter falls to a panel of internationally respected Formula One media experts, chaired by ITV’s Formula One Studio Analyst, Tony Jardine. Jardine commented: “The response to this year’s competition has been overwhelming and the standard of entries is very high. As any journalist will tell you, it’s not easy to break into the upper ranks of the profession, so this really is a superb opportunity for any student considering a career in the media.
With GP2 promising to nurture the next generation of Formula One drivers and engineers, it is fantastic that Bridgestone has recognised the importance of the media to the development of international sport. e-reporter will be hugely beneficial to the journalists of the future.” Now in its second year, Bridgestone e-reporter has raised the bar significantly, not only with the prizes on offer, but also in terms of what is expected of the entrants.
The judges are not just looking for the ability to write. Solid research, an appreciation of the target audience and subject matter, enthusiasm for the sport and of course, the flair to stand out from the crowd, are all attributes required. Bridgestone e-reporter is open to all students aged 18-30 studying full time in Europe at a high school, college or university.
