Bloss looks forward to BARC season

Logic Motorsport’s Martin Bloss (Andover, Hampshire), a key player in the Formula Renault BARC Championship for several years, has confirmed he’ll be an active participant in 2005 after linking-up with fellow competitor Richard Ellingworth (Harlaxton, Grantham).

Bloss, a 41-year old company director, and Ellingworth, a 37-year old recruitment consultant, have joined forces for 2005 and while both drivers are set to race in the ‘Club Class’ of the series themselves, they’re also keen to hear from additional drivers who would like to run with the team this season.

With Renault UK’s increased commitment to the BARC championship this year, the series is set for its most successful season ever – and particularly with the introduction of the renowned FR 2.0 car in a new FR2000 class.

Bloss commented: “I’m massively looking forward to this season as we have some fantastic drivers in Formula Renault BARC and it should be an absolutely blinding season. I am still talking to other drivers and we have seats available to run in both the Club and FR2000 classes so we’d be delighted to hear from interested parties.”

The association with Ellingworth, which will run under the banner of X-Dream, promises to be strong and both drivers have their sights set on success. After karting for approximately four seasons, Ellingworth moved into Formula First in 2000 and then moved into Formula Ford before graduating to Formula Renault BARC in 2003.

He commented: “I did contest a few rounds of the Pick-Up Truck series at Rockingham last year which is where I met Martin. With Formula Renault BARC set to be so strong this year, we both wanted to increase out commitment to the series and I’m certainly aiming to be in the top three at the end of the year.

“I actually supported James Gornall (2003 Formula Renault BARC Champion) through Echo Personnel by funding the purchase of his FR 2.0 car when he stepped up to Formula Renault UK last year and I’m hoping myself and Martin can help offer similar support to a well-backed young driver this year.

“We would like to run our own team in Formula Renault UK one day and it’d be fantastic to find another talent like James and help them through the BARC series and on into the full championship. For now, though, we’re focused on success in BARC and looking forward to a very good season.”

Novice Allen receives help from reigning BARC Champion

Bill Allen (Hungerford, Berkshire), meanwhile, has been getting his first ever track mileage under his belt, ahead of his maiden season in the 2005 Formula Renault BARC Championship - with a little expert help from reigning champion Nicky Wilson.

Allen’s RC 98/99 Tatuus chassis was the one used by Nicky Wilson Racing to win last year’s BARC series and the 38-year old has enlisted the help of the 2004 titlist as he prepares for his first ever season of race action in any category.

“I tested at Silverstone last week and it was my first ever driver of the car”, explained Allen, “In fact, it was my first ever drive of a single-seater! I wanted to opt for a quiet first test and things went well.

“Nicky Wilson Racing supported me during the test and will be giving me help and guidance throughout the season. The team is doing a fantastic job and I’m keeping my fingers crossed Nicky will be able to raise the budget to race in the full Formula Renault UK series this year, as he certainly deserves the opportunity.”
