FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix

Championship calendar of events The season will feature 8 events including 3 double-header rounds and will take in the inaugural A1 Grand Prix meeting as the TGP cars return to the legendary Brands Hatch circuit for the first time in several years. This event will recreate the iconic Race of Champions events, non-championship Grand Prix races that stared all the big name drivers racing their cars for an annual one-off event during the late 60s up until the early 80s.Other events include the brand new 'Old Timer' event at Hockenheim AND the final Marlboro Masters event at Zandvoort, site of the first Cosworth DFV victory and the first time for many years the predominantly DFV-powered grid has returned. Cosworth have sponsored TGP for the last two years as their heritage programme has grown in stature and it the 50,000 strong crowd are in for a great show. In terms of numbers, the TGP Championship is going from strength to strength with several new drivers and machines joining up for the 2005 term. Among others, Rowland Kinch arrives with an Arrows A1, Janine Payne with an Arrows A3, Alain de Wagter will drive a Surtees TS16, Steve Worrad a Shadow DN5, Peter Sowerby an Arrows A4 and Patrick D'Aubreby will race Tyrrell 012-6 later in the season. Duncan Dayton is rumoured to be contemplating a full season in TGP in his Williams FW07 as is Christian Glaesel in the Brabham BT49. Martin Stretton could also return in the Tyrrell P34 six-wheeler. Elsewhere, reigning champion, Rodrigo Gallego, has switched from his March 761 to a Minardi 185.It promises to be another year of quality racingRace  -  Event  -  DateRound 1  Hockenheim, Germany
