Clutton to make Porsche Club history

Teenager Marcus Clutton will make Porsche Club GB history by becoming the youngest ever competitor in the Michelin Porsche Club Championship this season. Clutton, who only reaches his 16th birthday this week, will race the ex-Adam Egar Porsche 911SC for Machtech Motorsport on his graduation from karting.Clutton, a student of engineering at Oldham College of Technology, has an impressive karting pedigree, but is now switching to cars and is aiming to use the Porsche Club Championship as the first step on the journey towards racing at Le Mans."Marcus has always had a leaning towards GT and sportscars," explains his manager, Colin Smith of Machtech. "The plan has always been to get him into cars as soon as possible and he has already passed his ARDS test." He started cadet karting at the age of eight, and won the 2004 Midlands Open Championship. Motorsport success runs in the family, as his father Mark is a former European drag bike champion. In recent times, Machtech Motorsport has become a leading supplier of engineering to the motorsport industry.The car will be prepared by ABG Motorsport, with team boss Peter Hignett over-seeing operations. An extensive test programme is now planned in the build up to the opening race of the season at Snetterton on 9/10 April.
