Zytek/Team Essex 2005 Campaign

After a highly successful Le Mans Endurance Series season last year with its 04S sports car, motorsport specialist Zytek has entered a partnership with Danish company Essex Invest. The team intends to launch an all-out assault on the 2005 Le Mans 24 hour endurance raceThe Zytek-designed and powered 04S, which achieved a 4th place finish at last year’s Silverstone LMES race and which qualified in third position on the grid for the 2004 Le Mans 24 hour, is set to return to the race this year, with its sights set on victory.

Danish Company Essex Invest, which already runs a highly successful 4 car Touring car team in Denmark, has gone into partnership with Zytek Engineering for an all-out assault on the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2005, should the team be fortunate enough to be granted an entry by the ACO.

“It is with great pleasure and big expectations that we have gone into this year’s Le Mans,” says Peter Halvorsen, owner of Essex Invest, which is one of Denmark's three biggest property developers. “Having done it for the first time in 2004 with Lister, we decided that now is the time to make a serious attack on winning this great French classic. The car, team and drivers are right, and we see it as our chance to go for a win. Not very often does Le Mans give private teams this opportunity.”

“This is a great opportunity for me and for Essex Invest to go to Le Mans again, and I am very excited that we have managed to make this happen. Together with our Danish Touring Car Champion and our protégé, Casper Elgaard, also one of our drivers in our DTC program in Denmark, and Japanese driver Hayanari Shimoda, I am sure that we have the driver line up to succeed in this year’s Le Mans 24 hours,” says John Nielsen, team chief for Essex Invest and 1990 Le Mans Winner. “Being there for the 19th time and with a car and team that can fight for overall glory is fantastic.

“This partnership means that Zytek / Team Essex Invest will go to Le Mans with the aim to win. The driver pairing is strong and the car and engine even better than last year,” Concludes Bill Gibson, Chairman of Zytek Group.
