Variety is the key in BHRC
An amazing diversity of cars will line up for the opening round of the Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship, which starts with the Alternative Sign Centre Robin Hood Historic Forest Stages this coming weekend (12/13 March). In all, 13 manufacturers are represented with a total of 16 different models across the three categories of historic rallying.Inevitably, Ford is the most popular in the 84-car entry for the Robin Hood, with 40 Escorts and 11 Cortinas packing the field. However, Porsche is as well represented as it has ever been, with no less than ten 911s set to start the Nottinghamshire event.Rally favourites, the Mini (five entered), Saab 96 (three) and Datsun 240Z (three) are next in the popularity stakes, while two Talbot Sunbeams and two Opel Kadetts are also on the list. Toyota can claim two cars (one Corolla and one Celica), while Triumph also scores two with a TR7 V8 and a Dolomite Sprint. Finally, single examples of a Sunbeam Tiger, Skoda 120S, MG Midget and Volvo Amazon complete the field and help provide the variety that is just one of the appeals of historic rallying.
