Law-Brumos Porsche Homestead Recap

Grand American Rolex series regulars Darren Law, David Donohue and the whole Red Bull Brumos Porsche team have made some positive gains with the FABCAR and finished a competitive 8th place in this last weekend's Miami Grand Prix at Homestead Miami speedway. The 2 hour 45 minute endurance event marked the second round of the 2005 Rolex Grand American series, and was held amidst clear skies and beautiful conditions.Pole Position HonorsLaw quickly got down to business early in Friday's qualifying session and hustled the #58 Brumos Porsche to the quick time of the session. The 1 minute 15.433 second lap around the 2.5 mile track infield roadcourse secured Law his first Rolex series Daytona Prototype pole position."We were going pretty decent right off the trailer," said Law following the qualifying session. "Because of the weather the night before we thought there may be issues in the qualifying session, so I went out and tried to lay down a quick lap right off the bat. It was a good strategy, and it worked. I'm really happy for Brumos, Porsche, Red Bull and FABCAR. They have all been working to improve the car."The RaceLaw led the 46 car field to the green flag, and was embroiled in a three car battle for the lead for 26 laps. Law pitted for fuel and a new set of Hoosier slicks on lap 54 after 1 hour 24 minutes in the car, and handed off to teammate David Donohue who completed the race distance."I had some good battles with a lot of different cars during my stint," recalled Law after the event. "Even though we still have work to do, we have definitely made some gains, and it was good to be able to fight at the front of the field." Upcoming EventsDarren has a busy schedule during March as he travels next weekend to Santo Domingo for a Grand Am Cup event in the Zoom Motorsports Porsche 996, and then goes to Sebring Florida for the 53rd annual 12 Hours of Sebring with the Flying Lizard Motorsports team. Law's next Rolex series event will be at the Grand American 400 the weekend of April 1-3 at California Speedway in Fontana. Look for Law and Donohue to continue to move their Red Bull Brumos Porsche closer to the front of this year's very competitive Daytona Prototype field.
