Westbrook gets Supercup opportunity
Richard Westbrook will contest the opening round of the 2005 Porsche Supercup in Bahrain on 3 April. On the back of winning the Carrera Cup GB last season, Westbrook has been invited to contest the support race to the Grand Prix of Bahrain with Walter Lechner Racing."Walter followed the Carrera Cup last year and winning it has put me in the limelight in Britain and the rest of Europe," says Westbrook, who is thrilled to be invited to contest the first Supercup race of the season. "Supercup is the obvious next step on the ladder!"Westbrook has only just returned from Bahrain, where he has been instructing on the Grand Prix circuit for Trakshare. "I was out there when I got the call from Walter to say I'd better learn the circuit! We'll be running the new car in at the circuit, but we're definitely aiming for victory. It is a brilliant team and we're all working on doing the rest of the Supercup season."Westbrook is delighted to have earned this drive on merit alone. "Carrera Cup has really helped my career and put me back on the map," he says.The week after the Bahrain race, Westbrook will be racing at Donington in the opening weekend of the Carrera Cup GB as he starts his title defence with Red Line Racing.
