Spedeworth South brings the all-action National Bangers to Wimbledon Stadium to fight it out for the Bangers Figure of Eight 2005 Championship of the World on, Sunday April 3rd at 5pm, when the top Banger drivers push their cars to total destruction on the Figure 8 Circuit in pursuit of the prestigious title. As a special offer kids (over 5 and under 14) get into the event for just £1.00.
The 2005 Figure Eight World Final is an Unlimited over 1800cc event, with engine swaps allowed, allowing the drivers to field the biggest and most powerful machines they can find. This usually translates to Ford Granada saloons and station wagons, plus a pride of Jaguar’s big cats and assorted full-size European cars. However, the Banger pilots always like to produce a spectacular car for the finals, so fans can expect to see some serous iron hit the track on race night.
Whatever cars they are using the drivers’ skill and courage will be put to the test as the big Bangers charge around the track and then cross each other’s paths in the middle of the circuit. The spectacle of cars rushing across the centre of the track with inches between oncoming traffic is an incredible sight and the collective intake of breath form the crowd as the cars narrowly miss each other is only matched by the cheers when they inevitably meet in a metal twisting T-bone crash.
The mighty Stock Cars will also be in action on the night, providing more metal bashing thrills as the drivers put their heavy front bumpers to good use in pursuit of the chequered flag.
Figure of Eight racing is not for faint-hearted drivers or spectators, but it provides some of the most thrilling racing on the short circuit scene. Add to that the fact that qualifying for the World Figure 8 title takes place on the night and the stage is set for some classic no-holds barred, Banger action.
