Double for Dirani

Race 1

Danilo Dirani secured a remarkable victory for Lola and P1 Motorsport in the opening round of the British F3 International Series at Donington Park on Sunday morning.

After three cars collided at the start, which saw the Safety Car coming out for the first five laps, and facing an ongoing battle with Mike Conway (Fortec Motorsport) and the Double R Racing driver Daniel Clarke, the Brazilian kept clear ahead of Conway throughout the race and took a solid start-to-finish win.

Marko Asmer, who started the race in second place, dropped back into the midfield right at the start, but recovered well and managed to finish the race in 8th place, just behind Promatecme driver Steven Kane in another new Lola.

Bruno Senna and the Menu F3 Motorsport driver Stephen Jelley had a short battle in laps six and seven, resulting in Senna making contact with the rear of Jelley’s Dallara F305 Opel Spiess and Jelley spinning backwards into the gravel.

2004 Scholarship class winner Ryan Lewis, who set a new lap record of 1:02.682, came fourth after starting the race in sixth position.

Team SWR driver Josh Fisher won the race in the National Class category ahead of Barton Mawer (T-Sport) and Charlie Hollings in the Lola-Dome F106/4 Mugen-Honda, who finished third.

Race 2

Danilo Dirani did it again in the second race of the British F3 International Series with a spotless start to finish victory for Lola and P1 Motorsport. Right from the start, Dirani managed to get four car lengths ahead of Marko Asmer, who started from second position on the grid.

Having a much better start than in the first race, Hitech driver Marko Asmer finished the race in second place, just keeping ahead of Mike Conway, who finished the race in third position for Fortec Motorsport.

After the Safety Car had been called out straight after the start of the first race, it was out again after lap 1 to collect the debris of three cars, including Double R Racing driver Bruno Senna.

After coming second in race one, T-Sport's Barton Mawer won the race for the National Class ahead of Salvador Duran (P1 Motorsport) and Josh Fisher, class winner in the first race.
