The Altran Engineering Academy: a unique chance for young talents to join a Formula 1 Team.
The AEA was born from the shared commitment of Altran and the Renault F1 Team to the values of ‘challenge' and ‘ambition'. Both organisations place people at the heart of their collaboration, and believe that enthusiasm and ability merit recognition and reward. In today's highly competitive professional landscape, it can be difficult for young talent to get the start it deserves. That is why Altran and the Renault F1 Team are committed to offering them the one thing they need most: opportunity.
As the innovation consulting partner of the Renault F1 Team, Altran is involved in Research & Development projects and the AEA was thought as an opportunity to offer a useful experience in this highly competitive and motivating environment that is otherwise closed to most.
Research and Development is a closed, secretive world, yet in any technology company, it is also home to some of the most exciting and motivating projects they work on. As the innovation consulting partner of the Renault F1 Team, Altran has privileged access to the world of Formula 1 R&D, and the AEA was conceived of to offer winning students unique experience in this demanding and competitive environment.
The Altran Engineering Academy offers to one young engineering graduate or in his/her last year study of a school or university in Sciences and Technologies a 6-month placement with the Renault F1 Team R&D department in Enstone, Oxfordshire (Great-Britain), a Renault pool vehicle with a business fuel card, a salary of £6,500 (approx. $12,200 or 9,400 euros), accommodation in a bedroom flat in Oxford and support from an Altran mentor.
Candidates may register on the official website http://www.altran-academy.com by submitting a project focussed on technological innovation in one of the following seven disciplines: aerodynamics, power, performance engineering, vehicle dynamics, control systems, electronics, materials transducers and fuel technology.
The successful candidate will be selected from 8 finalists from around the world who will present their projects at the Renault F1 Team HQ in Enstone.
The competition is open from until May 28th in twenty countries, with the placement beginning in September 2005. Monster and the International Herald Tribune are the media partners of the competition.
The 1st edition, launched only in the UK, was a real success. Five finalists were selected from 1,400 entrants. An interview with the finalists was set up, and the winner, Mark Caldwell from Brookland's College, started his placement last September. Since then he has become an integral part of the renowned scientific and engineering team at Renault F1 Team's HQ in Enstone, where he is supported by a mentor from Altran. Recently, he has been encouraged to apply for a job with the Renault F1 Team.
