FERRARI, MASERATI & STORM
At last it was dry for the race yesterday and no problems with the car in the warm-up so a straightforward build up to the race.
Justin starting from 14th moved immediately up to 10th where he stayed for the first stint before coming in to hand over to Liz – losing time on his in-lap as fuel was low. Another trouble free stint for Liz who maintained position with lap times improving throughout and it was back to Justin for the final hour and a bit, with just a quick splash and dash towards the end. Justin moved up to 6th in class but lost one position when he locked the tyres and had a quick excursion into the gravel – so it was 7th in class for the first race of the year – first of the non-Italian cars – only 4 Maserati’s and 2 Ferrari 550’s ahead.
The engine is the first stage of the new specification V12 – and it has shown its potential; comments from our drivers and drivers in other cars show the V12 is now as fast down the straights as the Ferrari 550’s.
