Spedeworth South brought the all-action Superstox to Wimbledon Stadium on April 9th to contest the London Championship.
Defending champion Steve Jackson, 376 was widely tipped to retain the title as he lined up on the grid. In the event this prediction was to come true as Jackson showed exactly why he is one of the top drivers in the formula with a textbook drive over the 30-lap event.
Early leader Dave Miles, 124, soon fell by the way side as the star drivers began to very swiftly make their presence felt. 171, Ady Robinson assumed the lead, but already Jackson was weaving his way through the pack.
Jackson made his move for pole position on the 11 lap mark, passing Robinson cleanly, without use of the front bumper and never really looked in any danger of losing the number 1 spot from that point on.
Jackson kept calm and developed a strong lead over Robinson and Steve Such, 40 to power under the chequered flag and claim the London Championship title for the second year running. Robinson held on to take 2nd place, with third going to Steve Such.
Jackson was delighted to retain the title and is definitely a driver to watch as the season unfolds at Wimbledon. There will be another night's great racing at Wimbledon on April 24th With the Lightning Rods, V8 Stock Cars, 2.0 Hot Rods and the Rookie Bangers in action at Britain's finest stock car racing circuit.
