Tootell prepares for Porche Club debut
Racing newcomer Lewis Tootell will make his debut in the 2005 Michelin Porsche Club Championship at Oulton Park on 14 May. The business management student was given a race-prepared Porsche 968CS as a 21st birthday present and now plans to use experience from track days to start a racing campaign."My dad asked me what I wanted for my 21st birthday last October," explains the Manchester-based driver. Tootell's father Gary was a Porsche racer in his younger days and so they bought the ex-Team GVR 968CS ready for a season in the Club Championship.Tootell was due to make his debut on the opening weekend of the season at Snetterton (10 April) but an engine problem in testing forced him to miss the double header. Exams at Kings College London mean that he will be unable to tackle the next round at Castle Combe on 2 May, so his debut is now delayed until the Oulton Park race on 14 May."I was so disappointed to miss Snetterton and I can’t wait to get started," says Tootell, who has been having some coaching from Peter Morris, a winner in a 968 last season."I've done quite a few track days at Oulton," says Tootell who will also have some tuition from Aaron Scott in the run up to his debut race.
