Risi Competizione returns to 12 hrs of Sebring

The Texas-based Risi Competizione Ferrari team is headed back to Sebring, Florida for the first time since 2018. This year’s 70th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented By Advance Auto Parts for the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, March 19, is the race at hand for the renown Ferrari team competing in the GTD Pro class.

Drivers for the annual March once-around-the-clock race include Italian Davide Rigon and Brazilian Daniel Serra, who both recently competed with the Risi Competizione team at the 60th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona to a second-place finish, along with Risi newcomer Eddie Cheever III.

“We have a great deal of history at Sebring, including three victories,” said Giuseppe Risi, Team Principal. “Returning to a track we have experienced much success over the years certainly gets everyone excited. It will be a big weekend with the WEC (World Endurance Championship) teams competing on Friday and our 12-hour race on Saturday. Fans should enjoy many hours of good racing, and particularly with the Ferrari battles in both series.”

The Risi Ferrari team will be challenging the 3.74-mile, 17-turn Sebring circuit in the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo race car featuring a twin turbo V8 with 600 hp with 3902 cc total displacement. The team previously raced at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January to a second place GTD Pro class finish.

The rich Risi Competizione Sebring history dates back to the team’s inaugural season in 1998. With 23 entries over 17 years, Risi has collected victories on three occasions (2010, 2009, 2007) and a total of nine podiums.

All three Risi drivers are returning to Sebring, with Serra having raced twice previously at the Florida track and Rigon and Cheever each once. Rigon claims the highest 12 Hours of Sebring finish in 2016 with Risi Competizione. Serra has a seventh (2016 with Scuderia Corsa) and 12th (Spirit of Race AF Corse entry in 2018). Cheever III has competed once in 2018 with the Spirit of Daytona Cadillac Dpi entry to a 12th place finish.

Risi Competizione enlists Eddie Cheever III for this year's Sebring race
Rigon and Serra are both Ferrari Competizioni GT Factory drivers. Eddie Cheever III is son of retired Formula One driver Eddie Cheever and recent driver in the 12 Hours of Dubai in the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo with AF Corse.
