Having contested two rallies already in April, Wyn Humphreys plans to contest a further two events which will be supporting the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship opening round, the International Rally of Wales. Humphreys will contest the Panaround and Gwynedd rallies on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April. The Panaround is a qualifying round of the Welsh National Rally Championship of which Humphreys is contesting in 2005 along with the Silverstone Competition Tyres British Trials and Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) Championship.
Humphreys will also contest the Gwynedd Rally on Sunday, the main purpose just to spend some additional time in the car. The 21 year old driver will again be partnered in the TEG Sport International Group N specification Subaru Impreza, by his Machynlleth co-driver, Mark Lewis. The North Wales pair will be looking to claim maximum points for the Welsh National qualifier along with a respectable finish and also contest the Gwynedd as part of a learning curve for the Aberdyfi driver.
"We had considered doing the International event, but we have little to gain from it, so by contesting the two supporting events, we complete the same mileage to test the cars reliability, plus hopefully pick up some all important points for our Welsh National campaign."
The Welsh pair have had mixed fortune in April taking maximum points in the under 25 category of the BTRDA event in North Humberside and failing to finish the Astra Stages Rally while lying in fifth place.
"We know we have the pace to provide a good result in both rallies, contesting the two rallies will also allow us to compare times with the International field. It will certainly be interesting to see how the weekend progresses."
Humphreys and Lewis will start the Panaround Rally on Saturday with the classic stages of Dyfi and Gartheniog. The following day will have the pair venturing into further classis stages of Hafren, Sweet Lamb and Myherin as part of the Gwynedd Rally.
