The Ascari KZ1R has excelled across two races in its first year at the Spanish GT in Jamara. Driven by creator Klaas Zwart, the supercar crossed the line in fourth place in its first race, improving to third place in the second.
The achievements add to Klaas Zwart’s growing list of successful race challenges, which include a first at Euroboss 2003, and a second place last year.
“This is a particularly sweet success for us at Ascari, both with the KZ1 only having been launched this January, and with it happening in Spain – the home of the new RaceResortAscari,” said Klaas. “It was an excellent first GT run, proving the Ascari KZ1R’s capabilities and showing that it has well and truly arrived on the international race scene.”
Based on Formula 1 technology and engineering, the Ascari KZ1 is an all carbon fibre sports car. Each is individually hand crafted and only 50 will ever be created – making it one of the most exclusive and coveted cars in the world.
Powered by a normally aspirated engine, which is encased in a stripped out super-light, super-strong carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and body shell, the original KZ1 design was modified for the Spanish GT for enhanced aerodynamics and even greater stability at top speed.
