Porsche Open set for Bank Holiday Castle Combe Race three in the Michelin Porsche Open Series will be at Castle Combe on Bank Holiday Monday (2 May) when a good entry of hugely varied racing Porsches will entertain the enthusiastic fans at the Wiltshire track. Two cars stand out at the head of the field and the spectacle of Richard Chamberlain (935) and Rupert Lewin (996 GT2-R) blasting around Castle Combe at speeds of up to 160mph will be a highlight of the day. Chamberlain took a double win in the opening races of the season at Snetterton and will start favourite, but Lewin will be chasing hard.Joining Chamberlain and Lewin in Class 1 will be two more stunning racing Porsches. Keith Butcher, from Portishead, is on home ground for his second outing in his 911GT3RS, while Paul Howells, from the Forest of Dean, is out in his 993GT2R. Paul Hogan was another double winner at Snetterton in his 996 Turbo and faces a renewed Class 2 challenge from racing newcomer Mark Albutt (911GT3 Cup), while Wayne Jackson (944 Turbo) also claimed a brace of early wins in Class 3. He faces some tough opposition at Castle Combe, including 2004 class winner John Allen (993 Super Cup), Clive Reay-Young (944 Turbo) and several Porsche Club Championship racers having another outing. Finally, the Class 4 field for near-identical 944s is headed by Snetterton winner Charles Winterhalder.
