Opening Day at Watkins Glen International is Sunday, May 1st and marks the last day to purchase tickets at the advanced prices. Fans will also have the opportunity to get a sneak peak at the latest capital improvements from their own vehicle, and drive the 3.4-mile historic circuit.
On Opening Day the track will officially open for one of the most highly anticipated racing seasons at The Glen in over 20 years. Fans will get a once in a lifetime opportunity to drive three paced laps, or take a ride around the historic facility and see all of the capital improvements and enhancements - before the likes of NASCAR stars Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr., and 2004 Indy 500 winner, Buddy Rice. Motorcycles are not permitted.
For only $15.00, from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM, fans can drive the track first and feel the excitement of the season as they take on the twists and turns of this famed road course before the historic 2005 season begins. Proceeds from Opening Day will benefit Victory Junction Gang Camp, a Kyle and Patty Petty organization for children with chronic illnesses.
May 1st also marks the last day to purchase racing tickets for all of the events at The Glen at the advanced prices. Fans can save as much as much as $15.00 on race packages and $11.00 on individual tickets. Save BIG on the premium "3-Pak" offer that includes a reserved seat for the NASCAR Busch Series, NEXTEL Cup Series and IndyCar Series events. Now is the time to secure seats in the new FrontStretch Grandstand located on the outside of the track by the start/finish line. The new 42 row high steel structure was completed earlier this month and the aluminum decking is already being put into place.
Tickets for the entire 2005 season are on sale now! This year, the NASCAR Busch Series joins the NEXTEL Cup Series for the first time during the annual SIRIUS Satellite Radio at The Glen weekend, August 11-14 to compete in the newly titled Zippo 200 race. The cars and stars of the Indy 500 will go road racing during the Inaugural Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix, presented by Argent Mortgage, September 23-25.
