Jordan challenges but spins in Ireland
Andrew Jordan was thwarted in his bid for victory in the latest round of the British Junior Rallycross Championship at Mondello Park in Ireland on Sunday (24 April). The 15-year old Andrew from Sutton Coldfield started well in his specially-prepared racing Mini. He scored two wins and a second in the three heats as the competition built towards the all-important final at the end of the afternoon's racing. He started the final from the outside of the front row of the grid alongside his arch-rival Kyle Orr, and was immediately into second place and challenging the leader. "I was hassling him and just locked the rear wheels up going into the Hairpin. That spun the car into the gravel and by the time I got going again I'd lost a lot of time," said a philosophical Andrew. He still salvaged seventh place in the final, but it was less than his front-running pace had promised.Andrew will now return to competition on Monday (2 May) in the opening round of the Rallycross Super Series at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire. "I hope to go well at Croft to make up for the result at Mondello," says AndrewAndrew Jordan is supported by Team Dynamics and the Bill Gwynne Rally School.
