The Krohn Racing/TRG team was thwarted by unnecessary contact in the first Rolex Sports Car Series race at Laguna Seca Raceway. Both cars were hit from behind, zapping them out of contention for the race win. Jörg Bergmeister and Max Papis finished 10th in the No. 66 Krohn/TRG Pontiac-powered Riley Mk XI and their teammates Nic Jönsson and Tracy Krohn were 16th in the No. 67 Pontiac-Riley.

Jörg Bergmeister, No. 66:

"The car was really good. I had no problems getting a gap to the other cars after every yellow. The second yellow came at a bad point for us – I was just in the hairpin so I couldn't pit and I had to stay out on the same tires. We were waiting for another yellow, which unfortunately didn't happen. On my pit-in lap, the 19 car just drove into my back and pushed me out."

Max Papis, No. 66:

"We led the first part of the race, so that’s a great achievement. Unfortunately, we got on the wrong side of the day when the yellow flag came out – we basically couldn’t pit at the same time everyone else did, so that put us behind. I feel overall we are making very good progress, we’re competitive all the time, we’re knocking at the door and I feel that it will open very shortly."

Nic Jönsson, No. 67:

"I'm very disappointed because the guys have done a heck of a job this weekend. We had a podium car today, but unfortunately we had a couple of mistakes in a pit stop – no one is to blame, but we just need to fine-tune the process. I got hit pretty hard just a couple of laps after the pit stop. I don’t know what to say – it’s difficult when people can’t drive around you and they have to drive over you."

Tracy Krohn, No. 67:

"We had two cars both hit from behind today. We need to start thinking about fining drivers for hitting each other. There's no reason for it. These guys are all world-class drivers, they all know better. If you start taking a lot of money out of their pockets, all this stuff will stop."
