Global Technology and Document Services Company Back Torquespeed for 2005 Title
Reigning SCSA Champion Stevie Hodgson gets his 2005 campaign off to the flying start with the news that his Torquespeed SCSA car is to be backed by Xerox, the global technology and solutions company.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Richard Wergan, Head of Marketing Communications for Xerox Europe said: “Torquespeed has a proven track record as a winning team that performs to the highest standard. They also have a very dynamic image and reputation, and so a Xerox partnership with Torquespeed - both demonstrating technological innovation and high performance - is a natural one. Last year Xerox was delighted to be associated with Torquespeed and driver John Mickel, both at Rockingham and in the two ASA races at Charlotte and Atlanta that the team competed in the in United States. We are now pleased to renew our partnership for another season and to be backing Stevie Hodgson in his attempt to retain his drivers title.”
“We are really pleased to be able to announce the deal with Xerox so soon after securing the backing of Ryanair for Hunter Abbott,” said Torquespeed Team Principle Asa Burrows. “With the dsi group of companies backing for Ian McKellar and John Mickel, retaining the backing from Xerox for another season was the final piece of the jigsaw for the team to go racing this year. This weekend will see the culmination of all the hard work everyone at Torquespeed has put in when the cars take to the Rockingham oval for the first race of 2005 - I for one can’t wait for the green flag!”
The first two races of the 2005 season takes place at Rockingham Race Circuit near Corby on Sunday 1st May. SCSA Racing, Europe’s fastest race series, will take centre stage of the circuit’s first Thunder Sunday event of 2005, with the race action also featuring Pickup Trucks and Legends. Thunder Sunday is all about entertainment for the whole family and apart from the racing there are stunts displays, a Spitfire air display, a fun fair, bouncy castle and a live concert starring 80’s legends Go West, who are currently on their 20th Anniversary Tour, and former Take That member Mark Owen, who launched his third solo album on 18th April.
