Michelin Porsche Club heads for Cheshire
Round four of the 2005 Michelin Porsche Club Championship will take the action to Oulton Park in Cheshire on Saturday 14 May during the Classic Sports Car Club race meeting. To date, the score is two wins to Ian White (3.2 Carrera) and one for Kevin Harrison (968CS) and now they will go head to head once more on the challenging International circuit at Oulton Park. Harrison made the running last time out at Castle Combe as he continues to acclimatise to the front-engined 968, but White was badly hindered by major brake problems and dropped to fourth by the end of the race. Having won both races at Snetterton in April, White will be as determined as ever to get back to the top step of the podium.Leading the chase of White and Harrison will be Ian Oliver (Carrera RS), Mike Clapham (968CS) and Richard Harrison (3.2 Carrera), while student Lewis Tootell will make his race debut in an ex-Team GVR 968CS.The fastest of the class two cars will be snapping at the heels of the class one pack and with Snetterton class winner Richard Lambert missing this round, Castle Combe winner Tom Segrue (944 S2) will start favourite. However, 16-year old Marcus Clutton (911SC) took class pole in qualifying at Castle Combe only to be swamped as the pack left the grid. He will be eager to make amends for that result and should be very rapid at his home track. Other leading class two runners include Colin Ingram (911SC), Graham Howells (911SC) and Chris Milne (911SC), while Cheshire based Marcus Carniel (911SC) is getting quicker with every outing.Paul Goldman (911SC) took a Snetterton double in class three, but was just headed home at Castle Combe by Ben Demetriou (911SC) after a tremendous race-long battle. That contest should be rejoined at Oulton Park.
