CLASSIC NIGHT’S ACTION AT PRE-1970 BANGER WORLD FINAL
Spedeworth International invites racing fans to step back in time when the Pre-1970 National Bangers World Final takes place at Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday May 15th at 5pm.
The classics that have reached the end of the road (and are well beyond the point of reasonable restoration) will have one last chance for glory on the night as the drivers push their old machines to total destruction in pursuit of the title.
Classic British iron will be very much in attendance, as drivers raid barns, sheds and scrap yards the length of the land to locate the last remaining Austin Cambridges, Morris Oxfords and Humber Hawks to take to the track and do battle with other cars that were around when petrol cost pennies a gallon rather than pounds and Britain still had a motor industry.
Awards will be presented to the Oldest, Rarest and Best Prepared cars, which has led to some very interesting classics appearing at Plough Lane. Naturally their status as classics cuts little ice with the drivers and it is not too long before they are reduced to scrap metal.
Sadly, this will be the fate for all the classics as the event closes with a last car left moving demolition derby, which will reduce any survivors to crumpled heaps by the time the last chequered flag of the evening falls.
The classic Bangers will be supported by the all-action V8 Stock Cars. These awesome machines literally shake the stadium as their massive American V8 engines unwind and the sight and sound of a pack of them in action at Plough Lane is one that is not easily forgotten.
Rounding off the night’s action the non-contact Rookie Rods will be competing in their London Championship. These budget priced race cars are very evenly matched and as such always deliver extremely close racing at Plough Lane.
With a field of classics, plus the V8 Stock Cars in full bore action, and the Rookie Rod’s London Championship Spedeworth will deliver another night’s great racing at Wimbledon Stadium, Britain’s finest stock car racing circuit.
