Silverstone has confirmed that it is down to its last 10,000 tickets for the 2005 FORMULA 1™ Foster’s British Grand Prix (8-10 July).
The Grand Prix is well on its way to becoming a sell-out for the second year in a row, and organisers are strongly advising fans to purchase tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Ticket sales have exceeded expectations and Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, expects the event to reach its 100,000 capacity by the end of May. Phillips commented: “After the success of last year’s event, and the popularity of our Early Booking Offer, we were hopeful that the event would be another sell-out. The signs were positive, but we have all been pleasantly surprised by the rate at which tickets have been selling.
If they continue to sell as well as they have been, we’ll reach sell-out in two or three weeks time.” Silverstone also confirmed that of the 10,000 remaining tickets, approximately 7,000 are Bronze general walkabout tickets, while 3,000 are grandstand seats – the majority of which are at Stowe, or limited availability in the Pits Straight Grandstand. Raceday hospitality places are also limited on the Sunday, however, there are still a number of options for those wanting to purchase Friday or Saturday hospitality packages. With two months to go before the Northamptonshire circuit’s blue ribbon event, ticket sales have reached 90,000 and are currently on target to match, if not surpass, last year’s three day attendance of 195,000 (100,000 on Sunday, 60,000 on Saturday and 35,000 on Friday).
Phillips continued: “This is very encouraging news for the British Grand Prix, Silverstone and Formula One in general. The support from the fans has been overwhelming and we’re delighted that, once again, they’ve got right behind the event. “The Grand Prix is one of the biggest and most popular events of the year, and is a highlight of the British sporting calendar. We have one of the best racing circuits in the world and, as the Home of British Motor Racing, we’re proud to have secured the future of the event for at least the next five years. We are looking forward to another fantastic British Grand Prix.”
