Irishman makes it back-to-back wins in Ferropolis to move top of the Championship standings.
Conor Shanahan moved one step closer to claiming the 2025 Drift Masters crown after edging out older brother Jack in the penultimate event of the season in Ferropolis.
- In a preview of what was to come, the Shanahan brothers excelled in blisteringly hot conditions on Friday in the Iron City and advanced to the final showdown. With the temperatures finally dropping and the floodlights on, it was Conor who found the edge to seal the win and top qualifying.
- On Saturday, the Top 32 battles set the tone for one of the most dramatic rounds of the season. James Deane’s championship hopes came to a crushing halt with an early elimination, while several other big names faced immense pressure in front of the packed German crowd.
- The heat was further turned up in the Top 16 with some intense battles. Conor Shanahan delivered an incredible display to overcome fellow Irishman Duane McKeever before hometown hero Max Heidrich’s run came to an early end after contact with the wall.
- In the quarter-finals, the championship picture began to take shape as Conor Shanahan advanced at the expense of Marco Zakouril, while Piotr Wiecek displayed incredible speed and commitment to get the better of Lauri Heinonen.
- There were more fireworks in the Final 4 as Conor Shanahan produced a relentless performance to get the better of Pawel Korpulinsk. On the other side of the bracket, Jack Shanahan narrowly prevailed over Wiecek to set up a mouthwatering battle against his younger brother.
- For the second night in a row, the brothers commenced battle and it was one of the most memorable finals of the year. Conor was able to stay composed and edged out Jack by the narrowest of margins to claim back-to-back wins in Ferropolis.
- That victory meant that Conor Shanahan now stands top of the championship standings with 390 points, eight clear of Wiecek who overcame Pawel Korpulinski in the playoff for third place. Jack Shanahan is third on 300 points.
